Many Things Untold: Atlantic

31/07/08  ||  Lord K Philipson

Many Things Untold are described as “hardcore, metal, screamo”. Not only does a warning light come on, my whole fucken apartment turns into a giant warning sign upon reading that description. And that is why I was puzzled when I got thru this album the first time; it’s actually not as fucken hideous as it should be considering hardcore and screamo are abominations at large when it comes to music.

But let’s not jump the gun here… We are not in Disneyland just yet.

Many Things Untold definitely got their fair share of repulsive moments which (just to name one) include those bastard hardcore chants that no one can appreciate. But somehow MTU pulls it off quite well (the concept, not the hardcore chants – those are Teh Suck, as always); the clean vocals are ok, the growls sound fine and the production is not at fault whatsoever.

For being young kids (average age: 17 years) they show alot of potential and knowledge when it comes to this style. I just wish they dropped the hardcore influences, the screamo parts, tuned down their instruments and started to sound like Krisiun.

Besides that, Many Things Untold aren’t completely helpless.

5 warning signs out of 10.
